Software Engineer, Web Application (US App)

Currently, Mercari’s US app is used by more and more people every day, with more than 35 million downloads so far. As we expand our engineering teams for Mercari’s US app, we are looking for skilled engineers to develop admin tools for customer experience improvement.
Your responsibilities will be broad: designing APIs, database modeling, implementation, performing code reviews, measuring various KPIs, providing feedback regarding specifications, and more.
In this position, you will be an employee of Mercari Japan and working in our Tokyo office, primarily developing for the US version of Mercari. If you are looking for a job opportunity in the United States, please apply through our Mercari US job openings.
・Develop new features for Mercari’s US app and related tools
・Design and implement tools to meet product requirements and support our customer support team
・Design and implement Mercari’s API and web application
・Migrate admin tools to microservices architecture
・Improve efficiency of customer operations with automation
・Improve the customer experience by speeding up the direct deposit process
▼ Minimum Requirements
・3+ years of web application development experience
・Strong familiarity with database modeling using relational databases (MySQL), and ability to write efficient SQL queries
・Ability to solve complex business tasks working closely with product managers, engineers, and the customer support team
・Knowledge of secure programming in web applications

・Experience developing large-scale systems
・Experience with quantitative/qualitative analysis of user activity logs
・Good knowledge of the Git version control system
・Experience with development in microservices architecture
・Programming skills in Go
・Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, and VueJS
・Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development
・Open-source contribution experience and familiarity with the open-source community
